TENNIS – Kei Nishikori fought back from a set down to overcome John Isner with 4-6 6-4 6-4 in the final of
the Citi Open in Washington. Isner took a 15-30 lead on Nishikori’s lead in the 10th game of the opening set
with a cross-court forehand and was the first to break serve for 6-4 with a forehand return winner. Diego

Nishikori rallied breaking serve in the first game of the second set and backed up this lead holding serve to
love for 2-0. Isner received treatment on his shoulder Nishikori did not look back and claimed the second set by 6-4 forcing the match to a decider.
Nishikori broke serve in the third game to lead 2-1 when Isner sent his forehand into the net. Isner did not earn
a single break point and Nishikori clinched the 10th title of his career and third in 2015. It was the third time
in five matches that Nishikori managed to win a match after losing the first set.
Next week Kei will move up to World Number 4 equalling his best ranking and overtaking Stan Wawrinka.
Nishikori committed 13 unforced errors and dropped her serve only once in the first set.
It was the third time that Isner lost a final at Washington after losing against Andy Roddick in 2007 and
against Juan Martin Del Potro in 2013.
