Phillip Kohlschreiber knocked out 18-year-old Aleksander Zverev 6-2 6-4 to reach the quarter finals in this home clay tournament where he won twice in 2007 and 2012. The German will face Belgian David Goffin who battled past Simone Bolelli in three sets with 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (4-7) 6-1. Goffin fought off three break points he faced.
Goffin and Bolelli held their serve in the first set which came down to the tie-break where Bolelli got two mini-breaks to open up a 4-1 lead with his down-the-line forehand but Goffin reeled off 5 consecutive games before clinching the set on his second set point.
Goffin broke serve in the first set but bolelli broke straight back. The second set came down to the tie-break where Bolelli got the mini-break which he managed to hold. Goffin saved the first match with his service winner but at the second opportunity he made an error with his smash allowing Bolelli to draw level on sets and force the match to the the third set

Roberto Bautista Agut fended off all the four break points he faced in his 6-0 6-3 win over Radek Stepanek setting up a quarter final match against 34-year-old Victor Estrella Burgos who battled past Janko Tipsarevic with 6-4 6-7 (1-7) 7-5 after fending off one break point at 5-all in the third set
In the first set Estrella Burgos got a double break to pull away to 5-2 but Tipsarevic, who is making his come-back after being sidelined by a long injury, recovered one of the two breaks- Estrella Burgos held his serve and closed out the set.
The second set went on serve until the ninth game when Estrella Burgos brought up three break point chances but he failed to convert them. Tipsarevic dominated the tie-break with 7-1. In the third set Tipsarevic went up a break twice and served for the match but Estrella Burgos reeled ooff three consecutive games to win the match
Last week’s Barcelona finalist Pablo Andujar beat Joao Souza 6-4 6-4 with a break for each set in a first round match delayed by rain to set up a second round match against Gerald Melzer.
Estoril ATP 250: Haase upsets Lopez after saving two match points
Robin Haase fought back from one set down to upset top-seed Feliciano Lopez with 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 aftet saving two match points to reach the third round at the Estoril ATP 250. Haase broke serve four times
Haase set up a quarter final against Nick Kyrgios who beat Filip Krajnovic 6-3 6-3.
Nicholas Almagro hit seven aces in his 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 win over Leonardo Mayer setting up a quarter final against Richard Gasquet who eased past Kenny De Schepper 6-2 6-3.
