TENNIS – After splitting up with coach Nick Saviano, Eugenie Bouchard signed a contract with IMG Tennis Management. The aim is to cash in as much and as fast as possible on the popularity of the future icon of WTA. By Lorenzo Dicandia
It is a period full of great changes and important decisions for Eugenie Bouchard. The young Canadian tennis star, after splitting with her coach, Nick Saviano, and with the management firm that followed her since she was 12, Lagardere, has recently signed a new contract with IMG tennis management. The American firm, which already has Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams under its belt and that used to have Anna Kournikova as well, has also acquired the rights for the modeling career of Bouchard.
The clear goal is to cash in as much and as fast as possible on the popularity of the future icon of WTA. Nike seems to be on the same page, according to rumors that want Bouchard’s contract with Nike to increase to $3million dollars per year. Time will tell us if these moves in the modelling and entertainment fields made by Bouchard’s staff won’t take her mind off tennis too much, and if we’re either looking at the rise of a new Kournikova or at the one of a new Sharapova.
