Pennetta and Hingis: “We had a tough draw. We have never thought to rise the final”
Flavia Pennetta and Martina Hingis played an extraordinary tournament so far. They have dominated their opponents and haven’t lost a set so far, never conceding more than 5 games per set. In the quarterfinals they defeated Peschke and Srebotnik 6-4, 6-3, losing 7 games, the maximum they have lost so far in a match. In the semifinals they defeated Sania Mirza and Cara Black 6-2, 6-4 recovering from a break down in the second set winning 4 games in a row.
In the final they will face the the Russians Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova who will play today in the women’s singles semifinals against Serena Williams who dismissed Pennetta from the singles event in the quarterfinals. The two Russians defeated Kimiko Date-Krumm and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 7-5, 6-3 in their semifinal.
