TENNIS – One of the most well known and loved tennis writers in the world, Bud Collins, just celebrated his 85th birthday. In a few days he will be at Wimbledon for a 51st time to watch the Championships.
Bud Collins is an institution in the world of tennis journalism. Arthur Worth “Bud” Collins, to use his full name, is a tennis writer and historian, and on the 17th of June he celebrated his 85th birthday. He spent most of these years following and reporting on tennis. He is married to photographer Anita Ruthling Klaussen.
Collins started his career at the Boston Herald, but he then moved to the Boston Globe for whom he covered most of the tennis tournaments of his career. In 2013 he travelled to London to follow Wimbledon for the 50th time. He was also a commentator for CBS, ESPN and NBC. Aside from tennis, Collins also wrote about politics for the Boston Globe and was even a candidate for Major of the city.
In 1994 Collins was became a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, a group of people who have done a lot for the sport over the years.
