Eugenie Bouchard kept her winning streak open by defeating the third top 10 of her season, Angelique Kerber 6-1 6-2 to reach the quarter finals of Roland Garros.

The Canadian, who is the youngest player left in the draw, started the match with great authority behind her serve and immediately transferred the confidence to the return.

Kerber, whose previous rounds showed signs of struggle on this surface, seemed never into the match, especially with her serve being continuously under the pressure of Bouchard’s strong returns.

Bouchard, who came to Roland Garros strong of her first title on WTA tour won in Nuremberg last week, won five consecutive games before Kerber could hold her serve.

The eighteenth seed had no trouble closing the set in just 22 minutes.

Kerber took a bathroom break to try and regroup and it seemed to work at first, as she started the second set by adding more power to her shots, especially to her serve.

She hold to love, but despite the effort, Bouchard hold easily too and then broke Kerber’s serve with another very aggressive, yet solid show in the third game.

The German tried a reaction and finally managed to got a chance to break, but Bouchard remained composed and after saving it, she held with confidence.

The missed chance to reopen the set seemed to take its toll on the eighth seed, who surrendered another break in a horrible game in which she hit two double faults and netted two easy backhands.

Bouchard hold to love and it seemed as if Kerber was out of the match.

However, the German found at last a reaction to hold the serve one more time before suffering an inevitable loss in 52 minutes.

The numbers of the match reflected the dominance of the 20 year old, who finished with 30 winners to only 11 unforced errors.

Bouchard, who is at her fifth slam appearance, has already reached the semi-finals in Australia and now will face the winner of Carla Suarez Navarro and another upcoming youngster Ajla Tomljanovic.

The Canadian will be strong of great confidence as she had never won as many consecutive matches in her career before.
