VIDEO: Ball Boy Steps In For Andy Murray On Match Point Against Federer
Monday’s Match For Africa clash might have been all about Roger Federer and Andy Murray, but an unnamed ball boy has also caught the attention of many.
As the two grand slam champions battled in a charity match to raise money for the Roger Federer Foundation, Murray made an unexpected decision whilst facing match point. With the packed crowd at the Zurich Hallenstadion watching on, the world No.1 selected a ball boy to step in for him.
Trading places on the court, the youngster took the challenge in his stride. Carefully choosing which ball he wanted to use, his first serve landed far beyond the service box. Unfazed by it, the smiling youngster attempted to have greater success with his second attempt. Unfortunately, his second attempt failed to go over the net. Federer did allow the boy a third attempt, but he opted to return to his previous job as a ball boy, drawing applause from the audience.
The third instalment of the Match For Africa, which Federer won in straight sets, has already raised over £1M.
